Before your trip

  1. Before your trip, please ensure you have booked your trip with Turo. Instructions on how to rent the car can be found on the main page.
  2. Important: Ensure your trip dates and times are correct. This is important for you to get you the correct access to the remote.
  3. Sign up with your name and phone number using the button below.
  4. Message me on the Turo app to enter your trip dates into the system so you can get access to the Remote.
  5. After your trip has been entered into the system, you should be able to access the Remote. If your trip is more than two hours out, the remote should say Trip Not Started Yet.

Getting to the car

The car is located at Spot Hero parking lot at:

by train ($5 via CTA Blue Line)

The lot can be accessed directly from the pedestrian bridge at the CTA Blue Line Cumberland stop.

Suggested directions from O'Hare Airport:

  1. Exit your terminal and follow signs for "Trains to City / CTA"
  2. Pay the fare with any of the following:
    • via the CTA Kiosks located at the station
    • via contactless payments made directly at the turnstile (Apple Pay)
    • via the Ventra app

  3. Head into the station and board the next departing train. Walk to the front of the train following the "board here" signs. Trains typically leave every 10 minutes.
  4. Ride for 2 stops getting off at the Cumberland stop. Head towards the escalators at the station.
  5. Exit the station and use the pedestrian bridge on the right. Follow the "North to Higgins/Cumberland Ave" sign.
  6. The lot is right outside the entrance of the pedestrian bridge.

Note: the Cumberland station is accessible. You can use the elevators to bring down any luggage you may have.

Pickup instructions

Once you get to the lot, find the car.

The exact location of the car in the lot may vary depending spot availability. Feel free message me via the Turo app if you have trouble locating the car.

How to pickup and start your trip:

  1. Open the Turo app and open your booked trip with me.
  2. Under Trip Info, open Trip photos, then tap Add photos.
  3. Please take photos or add pictures from your own gallery. Please add pictures of the following:

    • Add a picture of the front of your license. Ensure your name and birthday match your Turo profile.
    • Walk around the car and take a few photos of the car and add them to the Trip photos. Any photos add to the trip by either you or me go into a shared album under Trip photos.
    • Note: there is an existing dent on the passenger side door and two existing dents on the hood of the driver side.
  4. Unlock the car using the Online Remote. Follow the instructions after unlocking the car.
  5. Ensure the Turo check-in process is finished. The app should say your trip has started.
  6. Review the rest of the car guide to familiarize yourself with the car.
  7. Drive off and exit the lot when you're ready to go. Note: You don't need the QR code to exit the lot.

Dropoff instructions

Since drop-off is self-service, you may drop off the car as early as you want. However it's preferred to drop off the car within a few hours of your trip end time.

If you plan on dropping of the car very early, please request to modify your trip's end time in the Turo app and message me to get that approved.

Note: You do not need to charge the car prior to dropping it off. This is a free service I offer to you.

How to dropoff and end your trip:

  1. Head to the lot at and scan the SpotHero QR Code to let you in.
  2. Head to any open SpotHero spot (marked in blue) and park the car to take pictures. Ensure you have enough room for your camera to see all of the car.
  3. Use the Turo app to add Trip photos to document the car's return condition.

    Important: this is how you protect yourself from any damage that may have occurred between the time you drop off the car and the time I pick it up to prep it for the next guest.

    These pictures are more important than the pickup pictures! See below for a guide on how to document the car's return condition.

    Note: It's okay if the pictures aren't perfect. Just try your best and try to cover all the bases.

  4. Double check the car for any your belongs. It's easy to forget small things!
  5. Ensure you have finished the checkout process in the Turo app.
  6. Leave the key in its designated location and use the Remote to lock the car.
